The epoc® System can provide important information about patients who may be at risk for side effects associated with iodine-based contrast media used for many radiologic diagnostic procedures.
Contrast media is nephrotoxic to some patients. Risk factors include volume depletion, hypotension, renal dysfunction, diabetes mellitus, multiple myeloma, et al.
Rapid creatinine results in the radiology department
may lead to:
- Improved patient disposition decisions
and increased throughput
- Reduced delays in imaging procedures
if renal dysfunction is suspected
- Choice of alterative, less nephrotoxic
contrast agent or imaging method
- Improved time to treatment
